In 2009, Children’s Book Design and Illustration Course was initiated under Visual and Communication Design’s program. The course helps students to create children’s picture books from scratch. The course combines theoretical sessions, dummy creations, and discussions with emerging artist and other mentors from the literature industry.  Every year, different themes and media are introduced, bringing diversity and richness in the study portfolio. The course has been collaborated with international organizations such as The Asia Foundation and Room to Read as well as local publishers. Through this collaboration, Children’s Book Design and Illustration Course is aiming to produce high quality children books both locally and globally. Moreover, this collaboration has given birth to many talented illustrators focusing on children’s literature, including the winner of Scholastic Picture Book Award; Maria Karina and Anna Triana, the winner of Samsung Kids Time Award.
